[Important] Cancellation of Lectures, etc. Due to Natural Disasters
?At TUAT,
lectures and periodically scheduled examinations will be cancelled according to the following "3. Lecture cancellation criteria"
(as for cancelled examinations, please consult your lecturer at a later date for rescheduling, etc.) when an emergency warning/warning is issued by Japan Meteorological Agency or when train routes are suspended due to natural disasters, to prevent accidents involving students due to natural disasters (storm, heavy rain, flood, heavy snow, snowstorm).

In the case of bad weather (when a natural disaster may be expected), please make sure to read the information on the Japan Meteorological Agency website and railway company websites, and check if the weather condition meets the lecture cancellation criteria, by yourself, before coming to university.
1. Base point in time
① Morning lectures, etc. (1st to 2nd period) → judged based on the situation
at 6:00 am
② Afternoon lectures, etc. (3rd to 6th period) → judged based on the situation
at 10:00 am
③ Lectures, etc. in the 6th and 7th period of the Department of Industrial Technology and Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering → judged based on the situation
at 3:00 pm
* "lectures, etc.” here refers to lectures and periodically scheduled examinations (the same shall apply hereinafter).

3. Lecture cancellation criteria
Lectures scheduled to be held at Fuchu Campus will be cancelled:
Lectures, etc. will be cancelled if any of the following (1) to (3) applies.
(1) If any of the emergency warnings for rainstorm, heavy rain, snowstorm, heavy snow, etc. is issued in Fuchu-shi, Tokyo OR Koganei-shi, Tokyo
(2) If any of the warnings for heavy rain, flood, storm, heavy snow, or snowstorm is issued in Fuchu-shi, Tokyo
(3) If two or more of the following train routes are suspended* due to natural disasters
?JR Chuo Line (between Shinjuku Station and Tachikawa Station)
?JR Musashino Line (between Fuchu-Honmachi Station and Musashi-Urawa Station)
?Keio Line (between Shinjuku Station and Keio Hachioji Station OR between Chofu Station and Hashimoto Station)
* "suspended” here refers to the suspension of service within the routes shown in (? ) of each Line.
Lectures scheduled to be held at Koganei Campus will be cancelled:
Lectures, etc. will be cancelled?if any of the following?(1) to (3) applies.
(1) If any of the emergency warnings for rainstorm, heavy rain, snowstorm, heavy snow, etc. is issued in Fuchu-shi, Tokyo OR Koganei-shi, Tokyo
(2) If any of the
warnings
for heavy rain, flood, storm, heavy snow, or snowstorm is issued in Koganei-shi, Tokyo
(3)If the train route of JR Chuo Line (between Shinjuku Station and Tachikawa Station) is suspended* due to natural disasters
* "suspended” here refers to the suspension of service within the routes shown in (? ) of each Line.
4. Lectures, etc. which are subject to cancellation
Regardless of whether a lecture or exam is conducted face-to-face or online, all lectures and periodically scheduled examinations will be cancelled altogether (as for cancelled examinations, please consult your lecturer at a later date for rescheduling, etc.).
* About lectures, etc. that are offered at the following universities, please follow the policies of each university: universities which have joint education programs with TUAT (Iwate University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, University of Electro-Communications, Waseda University, etc.) and componentcooperating members universities of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (Ibaraki University and Utsunomiya University).
5. Others
- ?In the case of lecture/examination cancellation, a notice will be posted on the TUAT website: Lecture cancellation by disaster?.?However, there may be delays in posting depending on the situation. Therefore, even if there is no cancellation notice posted on the university website, please be sure to check the related information on the Japan Meteorological Agency website and railway company websites by yourself.
- In principle, all extracurricular activities will be cancelled as well if lectures, etc. are cancelled.
- In principle, students are also prohibited from using campus facilities including classrooms, laboratories and etc., so please refrain from coming to university if lectures, etc. are cancelled.
- Please check with the faculty member in charge of the activities for whether off-campus research/practical training, etc. will be carried out or not.
- ?In addition to "3. Lecture cancellation criteria" above, there are cases in which TUAT cancels lectures, etc. if deemed to be necessary to ensure students’ safety. In that case, we will notify you through the TUAT website: Lecture cancellation by disaster.
- If lectures, etc. are not cancelled by the university, however you will be absent due to unavoidable circumstances, such as public transportation routes between your residence and university are suspended due to natural disasters, please submit a "notice of absence due to specific reasons" *.
