October - December, 2013: Training for Environmental Data Acquisition and Assessment

This is a domestic training course of FOLENS, in its environmental science category. Main contents were consisted of field survey and laboratory analysis of samples obtained from the survey. We were collaborated by FM Fuchu and Tokyo Bureau of Sewerage for soil and water sampling. Trace element analysis of the soil and ion, antibiotics and coliform analysis of the water were conducted and we learnt about their environmental scientific meaning, intercorrelation of these indicators, as well as handling procedure in laboratory and data analysis. Students from various research fields in FOLENS join, therefore we discussed relationship with their respective fields unexpectedly. Also, students from non-analytical field are not familiar to some concepts in analytical chemistry such as calibration curb and so on, we confirmed from basic idea on chemical analysis of environment and tried to develop to application.(Ozaki)
